No. The Mental Disorders Crash Course is designed for providers who see patients with mental health needs, whether you’re a psychiatric nurse practitioner, a family NP, or student about to graduate from either program. This Course provides the essential and up to date information needed to provide high quality mental health care.

If you’re a family NP, you might not be treating patients with schizophrenia in your practice because you're typically not the treater for these types of patients that might be outside of your scope of practice, but through this Course, you’ll learn the diagnosis, treatment and be able to refer out to specialist providers as appropriate.

Or, you might be an FNP in a rural area who is required to treat your patient’s ongoing depression or anxiety. This Course is perfect for building competency and confidence so you prescribe appropriately, safely, and accurately.

Great question - while some NPs have said the Mental Disorders Crash Course is helpful for studying for boards, it’s definitely not a resource I recommend as a go-to for board prep. It’s designed first and foremost to help new NPs actively in practice and not intended to help students pass board exams.
